Our Fifteenth Festival was dedicated to the memory of Rebecca Cole Heinowitz. We went down to the South Yuba River, where she had accidentally drowned on May 24, left flowers in her memory, and recited four texts: the opening stanza of Hölderlin’s “Patmos”; two poems by Paul Celan, “Gone into the night…” and “Knock the light-wedges away…”; and Eli Siegel’s translation of the Kaddish.
